If you used revisia for a systematic review, dissertation or other academic work, this page provides recommended citations in common formats and wording for your methods section. Citing specialist software with its version is recognised good practice under the FORCE11 software citation principles and makes your work more reproducible.
Recommended citation (APA 7)
revisia. (2026). revisia (Version 2026.9) [Computer software]. https://revisia.es
In text: (revisia, 2026). The citation uses the current month. If you did the work in another month, replace 2026.9 with that year.month.

Which version to report
revisia is updated continuously, so its version is the year.month when you used it (CalVer). If screening took place in September 2026, the version is 2026.9. If your journal also requests an access date, use the date when you finished work on the platform.
If your journal asks for the manufacturer, it is revisia (https://revisia.es). revisia uses language models from OpenAI and Anthropic and combines different models by function. If a journal asks for the exact model names used in your project, email equipo@revisia.es and we will provide them in writing.
How to describe revisia in your methods section
PRISMA 2020 items 8 (selection), 9 (extraction) and 11 (risk of bias) ask how many reviewers assessed each record, whether they worked independently, and for details of any automation tools used (prisma-statement.org). Its explanation also asks how many records a person excluded and how many the tool alone excluded. revisia calculates those figures and includes them in the flow diagram. ICMJE and COPE also say that AI used in data collection or analysis belongs in Methods. The tool cannot be an author and human authors retain responsibility. Replace the brackets below with project data and keep only the options that describe what you actually did.
Study selection (English)
Screening was conducted in revisia (version [year.month]; manufacturer: revisia; https://revisia.es) between [start date] and [end date], with artificial-intelligence assistance: the tool proposed a decision for each record (include, exclude or review) with a judgement per criterion. [Number] reviewer(s) reviewed [all records / the records flagged for review and a sample of [n] of the proposed exclusions / only the records flagged for review]; human decisions took precedence over the tool's. Of the [n] records excluded at title/abstract, [n] were excluded on the tool's assessment alone, without human review, and [n] were excluded by a person. The tool's proposals and the final decisions were recorded and exported, and stage counts are reported in the PRISMA 2020 flow diagram. The authors retain full responsibility for all selection decisions.
Data extraction (English)
Data were extracted in revisia (version [year.month]; manufacturer: revisia). Each proposed value includes a verbatim quotation from the source document, which the tool checks against the text (except “maybe” answers without a supporting sentence, which are marked “no citation”), and fields without evidence are marked as unavailable. The review team checked [all data / a sample of [n] values / none] against the source document.
Risk of bias (English)
Risk of bias was assessed with [tool, for example RoB 2] in revisia (version [year.month]; manufacturer: revisia). The tool proposed a judgement for each domain with a verbatim quotation from the document. The review team checked [all assessments / a sample of [n] studies / none]; human decisions took precedence over the tool's.
If you generate the manuscript in revisia, it automatically includes the AI-use statement with the actual project stages and human-review figures.
Before choosing a journal
Some journals do not permit AI in screening or extraction. Cultura de los Cuidados prohibits any AI use; Revista Clínica Española and Fisioterapia allow it only for writing; and Revista Peruana de Medicina Experimental y Salud Pública does not allow it for data collection or drafting. Others allow it only when a person reviews every decision. Cochrane requires two independent people for study inclusion, extraction and risk-of-bias assessment, while Index de Enfermería asks authors to confirm that no decision was delegated to AI. Always check the journal's rules before submission.
Frequently asked questions
Can artificial intelligence be listed as an author?
No. ICMJE and COPE recommendations state that an AI tool cannot be an author. Human authors are responsible for all content, including assisted parts.
Where should I disclose that I used revisia?
In Methods, under selection and extraction, as required by PRISMA 2020 and ICMJE. If revisia also helped draft the manuscript, disclose it in acknowledgements and the cover letter. Some journals ask a separate submission question. Answer it with the same information.
Which revisia version should I cite?
The year.month when you did the work, for example 2026.9 for September 2026, plus the access date if required.
Must I cite the software?
Yes. Citing specialist software and its version supports reproducibility, and PRISMA 2020 requires identification of automation tools.
